SDF holds special event to commemorate International Men’s Day.

On the occasion of International Men’s Day celebrated annually on November 19, the Seychelles Defence Forces hosted a special event at the Military Training and Support Centre, Perseverance to honor the dedicated men in uniform.

The aim of the event was to shine a light on the various social challenges faced by men and boys; from young boys struggling in school to men grappling with mental health issues.

The Chief of Staff, Colonel Micheal Hollanda, delivered a speech to all present on behalf of the Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces, Major General Michael Rosette. The speech emphasized the importance of unity and support within the force. He stated:

“As members of the Seychelles Defence Forces, it is our duty to stand together, to support one another, and to ensure that no one feels alone in facing these challenges. Let us take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to building a culture of respect, compassion, and mutual support within our ranks. By doing so, we strengthen not only ourselves but the unity and resilience of our entire force.”

The event also featured insightful contributions from Mr. Jude Fred, the main guest speaker and Ms. Beryl Dodin who spoke on the topic of men’s mental and spiritual health.

The auspicious occasion was further enriched with a performance by artist Valdana Pool followed by a heartfelt poem presented by L/Cpl Hoareau Keanu.
